The chemical properties of a neutral atom are completely determined by the number of protons in the nucleus... True or False?Physics true or false question?
False, you must condsider neutrons and electrons in chemistry and even more in quantum mechanics. Chemical properties are NOT neutral just because electrons match protons. Lithium can have 3 protons and 3 neutrons and is very reactive. Valence electrons play more of a role in reactivity. But simply, false. Radioactive elements can be neutral but vary a great deal based on the number of neutrons. The number of protons determines the nature/name of the element but not all of it's chemical properties.Physics true or false question?
False, the number of protons must be equal to the number of electrons in order for it to have a neutral charge.
