Question about false labor and Braxton Hicks contractions?

I am almost 38 weeks pregnant. I have been getting Braxton Hicks contractions pretty frequently since Dec. They are never painful, just uncomfortable tightening of my abdomen. Today I felt something quite different, my adomen contracted but it felt quite painful and happened again later in the day. (In between I had additional painless Braxton Hicks). Is this something different? Is false labor different from Braxton Hicks contractions? Or can Braxton Hicks sometimes be quite painful and the rest of the time not painful at all? Any help is appreciated! Thanks.Question about false labor and Braxton Hicks contractions?
Sounds like early labor to me...once the contractions get to a point where they literally take your breath away, you cant walk, talk or sit through them, your ready to start timing them. When they get to 4-5 mins apart consistently for an hour growing in intensity, lasting 60-90 secs in length, its time to head to L%26amp;DQuestion about false labor and Braxton Hicks contractions?
True Labor is regular contraction that come closer together and increase in intensity and are over your entire abdomen. False labor usually begins before ';true labor'; and contractions are irregular, do not get closer, and intensity does not change.
